A fundraiser for the 8th grade New York trip held in the JCC basketball courts resulted in a profit of $460, reported the class.  Thanks to Lue Coplin, Roy Klein, and Coach Anna Bull with the help of AJA parents Nathalie Miller and Jackie Coplin, the 8th graders are now closer to their fundraising goals for their annual trip.

For a cost of $5, anyone could come in and play or watch basketball games. Parents, teachers, students-- anyone could come and challenge others to a 15 minute basketball match. Sixty to eighty people showed up for the event, including spectators.

A total of nine teams competed, including second through eighth grade along with teachers.

The winning team consisted of the alumni, Coach Bull, Kathy Rosenmann, and Trisha Doi. Coach Bull is the school coach, Mrs. Rosenmann is the science teacher and Mrs. Doi is the office coordinator.

During half time, the dance elective team performed for the audience and players. They all worked on the dance for the second trimester and have performed for an audience multiple times, said Daphna Blick, dance group leader.

The New York trip is scheduled for the week of May 15, 2017.
